Calamity Day Make Up/Extended School Days

As much as we love spending snow days with our families, we unfortunately are 1 day over our 5 day allotment of calamity days.  Due to the police investigation on our campus this year, Summit High School and Summit Road Elementary have one day to make up.

The School Board Meeting was last night and the decision was made to split our one day into 2 hour segments. We will be adding 2 hours to the following days: Tuesday 4/8, Thursday 4/10, and Monday 4/14.  Students will be dismissed at 4:35. There will be a snack provided each day around 2:30. Buses will run their normal routes, leaving the school at 4:40.

During these extended days, we will be doing some test preparation activites (I'm working on putting together a Summit Superbowl) as well as some Fusion activities integreating science and technology.

If you have previously scheduled appointments, please send in a note for early dismissal. Otherwise, please plan on your child attending the extended day.  The additional 2 hours are not voluntary.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Secret Code

To crack the code message on your homework, use this strategy...

Each letter in the message is actually three letters after the letter it is supposed to be. So, if I were trying to write the word "cat" in this code, my word would actually fdw. F is three letters after c, d is three letters after a, and w is three letters after t. Use this information to complete the puzzle on your homework page.

While you're here, think about what you could write about to share with our families, friends, and future students! See you tomorrow!

Happy Pi Day!

Hello! We've been very busy in room 145, and this blog has been neglected. I will begin utilizing it on a regular basis again next week. In the meantime, check out some of the new links under the resources tab.

Dream Box

We are incredibly excited about a new online practice program we have the opportunity to try for the next few months!

Dream Box is an interactive math program aligned to the Common Core State Standards. We've played for a little while today and have nothing but good things to say about it!

Here's the address for logging in:

https://play.dreambox.com/login/p7xp/summite

They also have an iPad app (free in the iTunes store). Here's the log in code for that: p7xp/summite

Your child will have a sticker with these codes and his/her password in their green folder this afternoon.

Enjoy the sunshine!
